**Tailing**

This trade covers the installation of floor and wall tiles using ceramic, porcelain and stone materials, including surface preparation, tile cutting, bedding and grouting so that the finished tiling is level, secure and visually consistent.

1. Read and interpret tiling drawings, layout plans and installation instructions

2. Check and prepare the substrate surface for flatness, level and cleanliness

3. Measure and mark out tile layout lines, falls and expansion joint positions

4. Mix and apply tile adhesive or mortar bed to the correct thickness

5. Measure, mark and cut tiles to size using manual and power cutting tools

6. Lay floor and wall tiles to line, level and correct spacing using spacers

7. Fix edge trims, movement joints and skirting tiles according to drawings

8. Check tile alignment, lippage and surface flatness during installation

9. Apply grout to joints and clean excess grout and adhesive from tile surfaces

10. Use hand tools and power tools such as tile cutters, notched trowels and levels safely

11. Complete the practical test within the given time following safe work practices
